We begin a new series today examining great prayers of the Bible. Exodus 33:12-23 finds Moses conversing with God as he expresses a desire for God's presence to remain with the Israelites as they journey to the Promised Land. Moses asks God to show him His ways so that he can know God more intimately and lead the people effectively. God responds by assuring Moses of His presence and grace, but Moses presses further, boldly asking God to show him His glory. God agrees to reveal His goodness, but says that no one can see His full glory and live. Instead, God allows Moses to see His back, protecting him in the process. It’s a moment of profound relationship between Moses and God, showing both God's greatness and His willingness to draw near to His servant. God's presence is where true peace, joy and security is found - let Moses' prayer be ours as well!
