Consider Jesus' reaction when he was persecuted: he suffered and sacrificed self, returning love when facing hate. Consider that he died for us, even when we were his enemies and hated him! We learn, once again, that the ways of Christ are completely countercultural. As his true followers, Jesus calls us to love our enemies, do good, bless and pray for those who hurt us .
