Many people consider the quality of "meekness" to be a sign of weakness in a person and therefore, undesirable. Christ once again turns a worldly belief upside down: Jesus tell us that the "meek shall inherit the earth" - not the 'strong'. In fact, meekness in biblical terms is defined 'as strength under control': it is the surrendering of all power to the Lord because ultimately, he is the only one who truly has all the power. It is a refusal to defend oneself because we know and trust God to do so - and this is humility. Martin Lloyd-Jones aptly put it this way: " To be truly meek means we no longer protect ourselves, because we see there is nothing worth defending" Amen!
